Counselling Connection

Heartfelt Stories

Counselling is recognised as one of the most personally and professionally rewarding careers. As a Counsellor you can experience personal victories every day. And it’s truly enriching. There is nothing more fulfilling than helping another person overcome seemingly impossible obstacles.

Many of our Graduates mention the life changing effect that becoming a qualified Counsellor has had on their lives. And we love hearing and sharing their inspirational stories.

You can visit our Facebook Page to read candid, impartial feedback from our students and graduates who have experienced AIPC’s programs first-hand.

Or you can read our Graduate Testimonial Booklet, where 19 professional counsellors share their life experiences as students and graduates of the Institute.

Whether you are looking to acquire counselling skills to supplement your core profession, are seeking a fresh start in a rewarding profession, or are looking to upgrade your current skills and formalise your experience – we’re determined to make counselling an attainable career for you, just like over 55,000 other students in the past 19 years.

I just needed to respond to this article.

I am a teacher. I completed the Diploma in 2006 – worked really hard and finished it in 16 months. Since that time I’ve been so passionate about working in the field of community services or even in schools in a counselling capacacity, of course these skills have contributed immensely to my teaching ability.

Since obtaining my Diploma I have used my counselling skills withinmy own classroom and an early intervention program that I developed together with the drug education and wellbeing senior project officer connected to our school throught the Education Department.

Also, in the last three years have applied for high level positions within community service agencies and the department of community services and been successful in being selected for interviews and gaining very positive feedback to interviews, but always being told that it went to someone with experience. I then decided it would be necessary to gain experience first in a community service agency or hoping that I would move into a wellbeing or counselling role in education. I’ve had chats with the extremely helpful staff members at AIPC to find further direction or information regarding further studies also since my completion of studies.

The important point I’m trying to make in connection with this article is that throughout this time of reflection and applying for jobs, I’ve continued to follow my heart, dream and passion of helping people and continued to persist toward my goal.

I currently feel like I am finally living my dream. I am the successful applicant for a position in a community service agency in a role that matches my skills and experiences gained over the last few years and I have to pinch myself every minute to the reality that I have finally achieved my goal.

It is the most liberating and fullfilling time in life and the move from education into my new pathway of community services feels “just right”.

I would advise anyone to follow their dream and believe it does come true if you persist, believe in yourself and get the right training and skills.

Thank you AIPC. I was skeptical at first, mostly due to the flexibility, helpfulness and ease of how your course is conducted and supportive of students. I would recommend your course to anyone who is passionate aboutgaining counselling qualifications to help others.

    Kindest regards,

    Jillene Haaja.
