Childish Behaviour

According to the United States Census Bureau, approximately 80 million people will be born in 2008. A search on Google for the word ‘parenting’ is likely to generate over 90 million pages. Becoming a parent is certainly a major part of people’s lives – whether the child is theirs, a friend’s, a colleague’s or a family member’s!

To assist all current and prospective parents to better understand their children, we’ve compiled a list of resources – both within our Blog and out there on The Web. If you have suggestions, don’t hesitate to drop a comment and share your knowledge with our parenting network!

Blog Series

In the right-side column of this Blog, you will find a couple of series which explore the behaviour of children and adolescents. First, we have a special series from internet-expert Angela Lewis, focusing on teenagers and Blogs (great contemporary knowledge).

Another special series, written by AIPC’s Graduate Vikki Rowe, explores the impact of child sexual abuse. The series offers a comprehensive collection of references and studies in the area, offering in-depth analysis of the topic.

Parenting a Problem Adolescent and Eating Disorders focus on adolescence-related issues – considered by many as the most challenging period of a parent’s life cycle. Communication with Children takes a more generic approach, looking into the different periods of a child’s development and providing strategies and skills to better communicate with children on each of these stages. This series includes some of Erikson’s lifespan development theory.

My Child Being Bullied tackles the important topic of bullying, which can be an extremely challenging scenario for unprepared parents. Bullying, if not dealt with appropriately, can have a major impact in a child’s emotional and psychological development. Finally, you can also use our search function or related posts tool to look for further information on child behaviour-related topics.
