Reach Out! Is an online service for your people 16-25. It provides practical information, support and links to other services to help young people get through tough times. Online services and information include areas such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, independency and body image.
As a free, informative online portal, they already offered a great range of resources and tools for the mental health industry. Their latest project, Reach Out Central, is set to outshine all previous efforts.
Reach Out Central is an online game created through a collaborative approach of mental health organisations in Australia, both private and public. The game is provided at no cost and registration to play takes only about 2 minutes.
“Reach Out Central (ROC) is an interactive program that’s designed to help you explore how your thinking, behaviour and feelings all interact with each other. Choose your own character and try out different ways of reacting to real-life situations. On the way, you might change the way you feel by changing the way you think - it’s easier than you’d expect. So come in and check it out- and don’t be surprised if you meet some people who remind you of the ones you know in your world.” (Reach Out website)
It’s a great idea to encourage young people to take action and learn some basic skills that can improve various areas in their lives such as communication, self-esteem, task-management, and more. To find out more information about this project, visit www.reachoutcentral.com.au.
Ps: Try the game out, it’s very interesting.
